Porto is renowned both at home and abroad not only as a tourist destination of excellence, but also as a gastronomic reference. And now Porto’s cuisine shines even brighter with the new Michelin stars awarded to restaurants in and around the city.
At the Michelin Guide Portugal 2026 gala , which took place on Tuesday, March 10, four of the ten new restaurants with a Michelin star are located in Porto. But we’ll reveal which ones later. Before that, we want to highlight chef Angélica Salvador, from InDiferente in Porto , who became the fourth woman to receive this distinction in Portugal.
The total number of Michelin stars
According to the Michelin Guide, a total of 53 Portuguese establishments were distinguished: nine with two stars (one of which is a debut in this category) and 44 with one star (ten new additions).
The new additions with one star
In this category, the excellence of Porto’s cuisine prevailed, as several of the new entries belong to the Porto region, namely:
- DOP (chef Rui Paula)
- Eón (chef Tiago Bonito)
- InDiferente (chef Angélica Salvador)
- Gastro by Elemento (chef Ricardo Dias Ferreira).
In addition to the restaurants mentioned above, these establishments were also awarded a Michelin star:
- Largo do Paço – Amarante (chef Francisco Quintas)
- Schistó – Peso da Régua (chef Vítor Matos)
- A Cozinha do Paço – Évora (chef Afonso Dantas)
- Alameda – Faro (chef Rui Sequeira)
- Kappo – Cascais (chef Tiago Penão)
- Map – Montemor-o-Novo (chef David Jesus).
There is a new two-star restaurant
As in previous editions, Portugal continues to miss out on three stars. However , there is a new entry on the exclusive list of restaurants with two Michelin stars – Fifty Seconds, in Lisbon.

- Belcanto – Lisbon (chef José Avillez)
- Vila Joya – Albufeira (chef Dieter Koschina)

- Il Gallo d’Oro – Funchal (chef Benoît Sinthon)
- Casa de Chá da Boa Nova – Leça da Palmeira (chef Rui Paula)
- Antiqvvm – Porto (chef Vítor Matos)
- The Yeatman Gastronomic R. – Vila Nova de Gaia (chef Ricardo Costa)
Other Michelin highlights
The Bib Gourmand distinction (quality/price) was awarded to two new establishments: Mesa15 (Petr Kiss – Leiria) and Taberna Sakra (Hugo China Ferreira – Alverca do Ribatejo).
In the Green Star category (sustainable gastronomy), the restaurant A Cozinha do Paço, in Évora, was distinguished. It should also be noted that chef Francisco Quintas (Largo do Paço, in Amarante) won the “Young Chef” award .
