Soccer arouses a lot of passion in kids and adults all over the world. In this context, there is news that fans of the sport of king (and beyond) will be pleased to know: the city of Porto will host matches in the 2030 World Cup.
This is due to FIFA’s official approval of the joint bid by Portugal, Spain and Morocco. Under the slogan “Yalla Vamos”, the three countries are preparing to host the competition.
2030 World Cup in Porto (and beyond)
Portugal will be present with three stadiums: Estádio da Luz and Estádio José Alvalade (Lisbon); and Estádio do Dragão (Porto).
Regarding the fact that Porto will host World Cup matches, the mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, told the Porto… website:
The passage of the 2030 Football World Cup through Porto represents an opportunity for the promotion of the municipality, namely in the sporting, social, cultural and economic-financial spheres.”
According to the Porto website, FC Porto’s president, André Villas-Boas, said that some improvements are already being considered, such as in the boxes, services, food, accessibility and hospitality area.
Other information
In addition to Portugal, Spain and Morocco, some of the 2023 World Cup matches will take place in South America, more specifically in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay to celebrate the centenary of the competition.
