If you’re looking for activities to celebrate World Children’s Day, look no further. Between May 30 and June 1, the Crystal Palace Gardens in Porto will transform into a true outdoor amusement park with an extensive program designed with both kids and adults in mind. Best of all? Admission is completely free.
Organized by the Porto City Council (CMP), the Children’s Festival promises plenty of dance and music performances , workshops, demonstrations, and sports and recreational activities —such as mountain biking and canoeing. But that’s not all. This year, there will also be a special carousel evoking the depths of the sea.
Highlights of the lineup
According to the CMP press release, the main musical highlights will take place at the Concha Acústica and Lago dos Cavalinhos, notably the concert featuring the PSP Band (June 1 at 11 a.m.) and other performances, such as:
- “Água,” by the group pBp (May 31, 5 p.m., at the Concha Acústica)
- “The Trash Can,” by Ana Catarina Pessoa (May 31, 4 p.m., at the Carlos Alberto Chapel)
- Demonstration by the Municipal Police ( May 31, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.) and the Fire Brigade (May 31, 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and June 1, at 10 a.m.), among other activities.
In addition, you’ll be able to visit the booths of various organizations that will be in attendance, such as the Soares dos Reis National Museum, World of Discoveries, the Electric Car Museum, and many others.
