There are few delicacies from Porto (and the northern region) that arouse such passion as francesinhas. So it’s no wonder that there are several events dedicated to one of the best sandwiches in the world. And one of them is just around the corner, namely the Maia Francesinhas Festival.
After a few editions in this city in Greater Porto, as well as elsewhere in Portugal, the Francesinhas Festival returns to Maia, from August 29 to September 7. There, you’ll find francesinhas to suit all tastes, from classic, wood-fired recipes to vegetarian and vegan versions.

What to know about the Francesinhas Festival?
Taking place in Maia’s Central Park, on Rua Simão Bolívar, the event will feature some specialized restaurants, such as:
- Cufra
- Alfândega Douro
- Santa Francesinha
- Alicantina, among others
What’s more, you should know that entry to the venue is free, meaning you only pay for what you consume. The Francesinha Festival is open every day from 12 noon to 3pm and from 7pm to 10.30pm.
