Although the weather has cooled down, with just over a month and a half left until summer, we’re starting to think about beaches, swimming pools e getaways. However, if you frequent Porto’s municipal swimming pools, pay attention, as two of them will be closed to the public.
According to porto City Council news portal (CMP), from June 3 until August 31, the Cartes Municipal Swimming Pool and the Constituição Municipal Swimming Pool will be closed. This is because the buildings are to be refurbished and the technical installations are to be upgraded.
According to the same source, the total investment in the two pools amounts to 272 thousand euros. It should also be noted that the municipal swimming pools are scheduled to reopen to the public on September 2nd.
What are the alternatives to these municipal pools?
In order to circumvent the possible constraints caused by these redevelopment works, the ágora municipal company managed to secure the following alternatives, namely:
- Partnership with Solinca – Dragon
- Partnership with Clube Fluvial Portuense
- Partnership with Futebol Clube do Porto for the use of the Campanhã swimming pool
- Armando Pimentel Swimming Pool
According to CMP’s news portal, members can take advantage of the above-mentioned partnerships on a free-use basis, i.e. including swimming pool and gym classes are not included.
According to the same source, another important note to add is that the use of these spaces does not represent any additional charge for free-use members.
