Summer is synonymous with heat, so many of our plans this season are to take a dip in the best swimming pools and beaches, or enjoy some fun times in water parks. But how about taking advantage of the good weather for outdoor movie sessions in Greater Porto?
As in other parts of Portugal, there are a number of initiatives dedicated to the Seventh Art in open spaces. From green gardens to public corners, we’ve decided to put together some suggestions for you to watch movies outside the usual theaters in and around the city of Porto.
Off-Site Cinema in Porto

Throughout the month of August, Porto is hosting the “Cinema Fora do Sítio” cycle with 10 free movie screenings in open-air spaces throughout the city.
Aimed at the whole family, the program includes blockbusters, award-winning productions and animations – from “Mission Impossible: The Final Hit” to “Lilo & Stitch”.
Find out all the details about the movies, venues and dates in this article. Screenings take place on Fridays and Saturdays, always at 9pm.

Until July 24, this free event brings the best of the Seventh Art to the urban parks of Gondomar.
On the program you can still find renowned films, such as “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” (July 17, in the Parque Urbano de Gondomar) and “Lord of the Rings: The War of The Rohirrim” (July 24, Parque Urbano de Rio Tinto).
