The name of Pablo Picasso needs no introduction, as he is one of the greatest names in 20th century painting. However, there is a lesser-known side to the Spanish genius, which you now have the opportunity to discover through a exhibition unprecedented that is coming to Porto.
“Picasso and Ceramics: the Genius of a Greater Art” is on show at the Museu dos Clérigos, from September 12 to January 12 2025. This is the first time the exhibition has been presented in the European Union (EU), offering a fascinating journey into understanding Picasso’s artistic versatility.
What will you find at the Pablo Picasso exhibition?
In all, the exhibition consists of 32 ceramic pieces, which bear witness to the Spanish artist’s talent for transforming clay into art, in a mixing of traditional techniques with his unique style.
In this context, from his earliest works to his latest, Pablo Picasso’s ceramics serve as a window into his out-of-the-ordinary inspiration, where colors and shapes dialogue with each other.
With the support of the Irmandade dos Clérigos and curated by Nuno Viana, this is the 14th temporary exhibition at the Clérigos Museum, which has hosted prestigious exhibitions.
