Although we’re still in September, news is starting to echo about Porto’s Christmas 2024. After announcing that this year there will be more illuminated streets and the expected time for the official switch-on of the lights, there is another piece of news: the arrival of the Porto Christmas Market.
According to the Porto City Council (CMP) news portal, the Christmas Market will once again be set up in Jardim João Chagas, popularly known as Jardim da Cordoaria, between November 30 and December 23. But that’s not all. Even the timetables are already known.
According to the same source, the Christmas market will operate as follows:
- Monday to Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday and the eve of public holidays, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Registration now open for Porto’s Christmas Market
As this is one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the year, it’s normal for many traders to try to be present. In this regard, the CMP informs that those interested can register until 5pm on September 27.
The initiative is especially aimed at restaurant, beverage or retail operators, who are legally qualified and preferably based in the municipality of Porto.
Who can apply?
In addition to the sectors mentioned above, regional products and handicrafts can also be considered, such as:
- Traditional sweets
- Charcuterie
- Wine
- Christmas decorations
- Nativity scenes
- Jewelry
- Toys
- Street food
- Hot chocolate
- Crepes, among others
How much does it cost?
According to CMP, these are the figures for the registration fee for interested traders:
- 550€ for food, drink and urban, traditional and regional crafts
- €800 for restaurants
How to submit an application?
Those interested should fill in a registration form, a declaration of commitment, among other documents that may be requested in accordance with the regulations.
The application must be submitted online to email mercadodenatal@agoraporto.pt, with the subject “Christmas Market Application – Porto 2024”, and the applicant’s identification. The final decision will be announced by October 4.
