Spring has arrived , and all we want to do is spend time outdoors. The best part? The days are about to get even longer, since daylight saving time is almost here. But don’t worry—we’ll explain it all so you won’t be caught off guard.
You’re probably already thinking, “There goes an hour of sleep.” It’s true, but the days will now have more natural light, increasing the opportunities for pleasant afternoons on a terrace overlooking the Douro River.
When does daylight saving time start?

Starting at 1 a.m. on the last Sunday of March, the 29th, clocks will be set forward one hour , moving to 2 a.m. in mainland Portugal and the Madeira archipelago . In the Azores, clocks will move from midnight to 1 a.m.
Generally speaking, you don’t need to worry about changing the time, since most modern devices and technology adjust automatically. However, if you use older appliances, radios, or cars, don’t forget to set the clock hands.
What’s changing in the city of Invicta?

Essentially, you can start putting those gray days behind you and embrace the sunshine, as the sun will shine until later. And what does that mean? Well, it means that the official season for Porto’s outdoor terraces is about to begin .
In addition, you can (and should) take the opportunity to walk longer along the Ribeira do Douro or in Foz, as well as to enjoy the beauty of the sunset and its vibrant colors in a more peaceful setting.

The clock changes twice a year: on the last Sunday in March to mark the start of daylight saving time; and on the last Sunday in October, to mark the start of standard time.
