Located in Aguiar de Sousa, in the municipality of Paredes, part of the Porto Metropolitan Area, this is probably one of the most dramatic and Instagrammable settings you will find near Invicta. Here, the noise of cars during rush hour is a distant reality; and instead of noise, silence and meditation reign.
A natural ‘amphitheater’ where time stands still

This is a destination to consider not on rainy or bad weather days, but when the sun is shining. After all, the force of the water can pose an unnecessary risk, and the idea is to relax and breathe deeply, not the opposite.
Here, the landscape is dominated by an impressive geological fissure known as the “Boca do Inferno” (Mouth of Hell). Its characteristics are so surprising that they inspired the emergence of a legend.
Between myths and high rocks, Senhora do Salto Park emerges as a natural “amphitheater” where time stands still, in a deep, dark, and cool valley, even on summer days.

Senhora do Salto Park is an inviting place for those seeking refuge and introspection, but also for outdoor and adventure sports such as hiking, mountain biking, and climbing, among others.
There are tables and chairs for family picnics, a small chapel, and parking spaces, which fill up quickly in high season, so the trick is to go early.
To enjoy the best this place has to offer, we recommend that you bring a packed lunch, as the local café may be closed, as well as comfortable shoes and clothing for walking on uneven terrain.
Protected fauna and flora

This area is part of the Natura 2000 Network, which means that its fauna and flora are protected. Alders, ash trees, laurels, and oaks create a feeling of ‘eternal’ freshness.
If you look closely (and with a little luck), you may spot the rare peregrine falcon flying over the cliffs, or the curious Lusitanian salamander.
The Legend of Senhora do Salto

Senhora do Salto Park is one of the most impressive places to visit near Porto, and it is no wonder that it is associated with centuries-old legends. There is one in particular that marks the history of this place and the origin of the chapel itself, which was built there.
If you go there, you will have the opportunity to see a flat stone with five holes, and this is where the ‘magic’ begins. It is said that a knight was fleeing from a demonic force when he fell into a deep crevice. However, he asked Our Lady for help, and he emerged unharmed.
As a sign of gratitude for the miracle, popular culture says that the knight had the small chapel of Nossa Senhora do Salto built there, which is still a destination for visitors and pilgrims today.
When is it worth going or not?
For those who enjoy tranquility and meditation with the sound of running water, Senhora do Salto Park is perfect; but it is also a suitable destination for family picnics or outdoor sports enthusiasts .
However, if you prefer bohemian and comfortable environments, it is better to stay in Porto and explore the many alternatives the city has to offer, from bars for cocktails to restaurants serving brunch all day.
Either way, at a time when even leisure seems scheduled, places like this remind us that sometimes the best plan is to have no plan at all!
