It’s no secret that Porto’s gastronomic offer is full of cross-border delicacies, such as Mexican or Asian restaurants. But without a doubt, Italian restaurants are also worth a mention. After all, there’s no shortage of places to try a piece of Bella Italia right here in the heart of Invicta and the surrounding area.
We’ve made a selection of some of the best Italian restaurants in the city (and beyond), so call on those like you who never miss an opportunity to try a new restaurant, and book your table at one of these now. The order of the list is random, as each one is special in its own way. The best thing is to try and choose your favorites!

Società 46
This is a relatively new venue, having only been open since June. Housed in one of the narrow buildings on Caldeireiros Street, at Società 46 you can not only enjoy Italian food, but there’s another detail to bear in mind: their pastas are homemade and handmade.
Although it’s not very large, the space is welcoming and there are a few decorative details that give the atmosphere a warm tone. On the menu, the handmade pastas are the stars, but the risotto and, of course, the typical (and always essential) tiramisu are worth a mention.

Antonio Mezzero
With its doors open since March 19, Antonio Mezzero has a new space under its own name. Known for his delicious pizzas, or if he wasn’t an award-winning pizzaiolo, the aim of this restaurant is to extend the offer to Italian cuisine as a whole.
So, around here, you’ll find pastas, pizzas (of course) and, soon, risottos and salads. The space has capacity for more than 50 people and there are plans to open a terrace where lighter meals will be served.
📍Av. General Norton de Matos 35, Matosinhos
Quattro Ristorante
Located in the heart of downtown Porto, Quattro Ristorante belongs to the P4 group – which has other venues in the city – and stands out for the simplicity of its typically Italian cuisine. There, you’ll find not only the most famous dishes, but also a lesser-known Italy.
The menu is varied, including the indispensable pizzas, a selection of delicious pastas made with fresh produce, among other options. It’s also worth noting that Quatro Ristorante has signature cocktails for those who enjoy this type of drink.
📍Rua da Fábrica, 53
Il Basilico
Located in the heart of Rua Sá da Bandeira, Il Basilico opened its doors in 2021, together with the renovated Hotel PortoBay Teatro.
The space is decorated in light wood, with cushions and greenery that give a feeling of comfort to those who pass by.
As well as its cozy atmosphere, Il Basilico’s menu includes risottos, ravioli and, of course, pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven.

Sergio Crivelli
How about a trip to Matosinhos? After all, it’s right next door and a visit to Sergio Crivelli’s restaurant is well worth it.
Born in Spoleto (Italy), chef Sergio Crivelli has a rich menu that includes pasta, risotto and his incredible pizzas.
To make everything even more appetizing, the restaurant launched an Executive Menu (€15) earlier this year, which includes:
- Starters (always suggested by the chef);
- A main course of your choice;
- A dessert of the day;
- A drink of your choice;
- And coffee.

Puro 4050
The decor at Puro 4050 is eye-catching. However, it’s the Italian food that really takes center stage here. In this restaurant, mozzarella is fundamental. In fact, this is a kind of ‘mozzarella bar’, the first in the city of Porto.
There is mozzarella in various shapes and forms, but also typical Italian charcuterie, such as Parma ham PDO, among other delicacies. We also recommend the delicious mushroom risotto or the creamy ricotta.
📍Largo São Domingos, 84, Porto
Lucrécia
This is the latest space from the Cafeína group, which has joined its older ‘brother’, Portarossa, creating a real Little Italy in the heart of Foz.
It’s beautifully decorated, with a busy and friendly kitchen open to the dining room, but also a very cozy terrace. Here, handmade pastas and mozzarellas are the star of the menu.
📍289 Rua de Côrte Real
Il Pizzaiolo
Oven-baked pizzas take center stage in this restaurant and we can guarantee that they are delicious. Here too, the chefs are Italian and the ingredients are some of the freshest available!
📍Clérigos:Rua de Cândido dos Reis 18 | Coliseu: Rua de Passos Manuel 195
Portarossa
An elegant and sophisticated restaurant where you really must try the pasta, at least once, because you’re guaranteed to come back! It’s one of the best-known Italian restaurants in Porto.
📍Rua de Côrte Real, 289
Il Fornaio 178
Neapolitan pizzas are king in almost all of these restaurants and this one is no exception. But it doesn’t stop there! From antipasti to pasta or risotto to meat and dolci, you’re sure to be very happy here. What’s more, the decor is very inviting!
📍178 rue Francois Guichard
Casa D’Oro
With a breathtaking view from downtown to the mouth of the River Douro, this is one of the Italian restaurants with the best sunsets.
The pizzas and pastas are incredibly delicious (try the Nutella pizza too!), accompanied by the iced tea that goes so well with these meals or a fino, of course!
