If you’re looking for weekend plans without breaking the bank , then get ready. On March 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday), Porto will be “overrun” by more than 60 free activities organized by the local City Council and 40 partners. The reason? The celebration of National Historic Centers Day and the 30th anniversary of Invicta’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The program includes exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, musical performances, and interactive activities designed to encourage Porto residents to engage more deeply with the city’s historical and cultural identity. In this vein, at the iconic Café Ceuta, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, a gathering will be held to present the project “Malha. Porto, património de pessoas.”
Joel Cleto and concerts

The program is extensive, but among the highlights is the “Tour of Porto’s Historic Fountains,” led by historian Joel Cleto, starting at the Fonte dos Leões at 11:30 a.m. The goal is to uncover the role of water in the city’s development over time.
In addition, there are some musical highlights to note: the Chamber Orchestra at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Church of Grilos; and the Symphonic Band’s Wind Ensemble at the Church of Taipas at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Spaces open to the community
To explore another facet of Porto’s many historic and iconic sites, you can “immerse” yourself in guided tours of the Puppet Museum, World of Discoveries; the churches of São Francisco, São Bento da Vitória, and São José das Taipas; the São João National Theater; or monuments such as the Palácio da Bolsa and the Clérigos Tower, among others.
It is also worth noting that other venues will be open to the public, such as the Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace, the Church of Grilos, and the Porto Hospital Center Museum.
