Recently, we’ve already shared news about the future Campanhã Fairground, or even about the opening of the recently opened Alameda de Cartes Park. However, here comes another piece of news: the construction of an elevator.
More specifically, a new intervention will be carried out to connect the Palácio de Cristal and Rua da Restauração, located on adjacent levels but separated by a steep slope.
According to a press release from Porto City Council (CMP) sent to Porto Secreto:
[The contract is part of the project] “Palácio de Cristal | Ligações Mecanizadas | Percursos Pedonais”, (…) with a base price of around 2.29 million euros and an execution period of 365 days, i.e. one year.”
Deadline for submitting bids?
According to the aforementioned source, the deadline for submitting bids for this contract is February 22 by 11:50 p.m., electronically, on the acinGov platform.
Purpose of building the elevator
This intervention is not the first as part of the strategy to bring the population closer together and improve access.
In 2020, mechanized connections had already been inaugurated in the Miragaia area, in front of the Alfândega building, and Rua do Monte dos Judeus.
