Porto is the city of camellias, but that doesn’t mean that other flowers don’t deserve a special place in the heart (and gardens) of Greater Porto. So , if you’re a plant enthusiast, mark your calendar: the 15th Porto International Orchid Exhibition/Sale returns between March 20 and 21.
However, this year there is something new. After passing through places such as the Botanical Garden, Edifício Transparente, and, more recently, the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, the “biggest celebration of orchids in Portugal” will be held at the Multipurpose Pavilion in Gondomar.
What to expect from the International Orchid Exhibition?
Promoted by the Portuguese Orchid Society (APO), the 15th Porto International Orchid Exhibition/Sale will change location, as the new venue offers “more exhibition space, greater light, and a more airy environment.”
The Gondomar Multipurpose Pavilion will host 15 national exhibitors and sellers , as well as six international exhibitors and sellers from countries such as Spain, Brazil, Ecuador, and Taiwan.
Here, you will be able to admire countless rare and exotic orchids, as well as other equally impressive species, such as cacti, succulents, bonsai, bromeliads, anthuriums, and other tropical plants.
In addition, one of the highlights of the event is worth mentioning: the evaluation of orchids by a panel of expert judges, who will award prizes in different categories.
