Christmas is synonymous with joy and excitement, but also with a lot of running around. Whether it’s buying the cod for supper or booking the best king cakes, preparing for the big night takes time. Another typical ‘task’ is buying Christmas presents for our friends, family and better half.
Toys, vinylrecords, vintage and sustainable products, books and jewelry, or even fragrances. There are many stores in the streets of Porto with original and creative products; the hard part is choosing. Join us on this tour of the local shops and choose the best Christmas gifts.

Christmas markets
Our first suggestion is not a store as such, but a tour of some of the best Christmas markets in Greater Porto.
It’s always worth stopping by the traditional fairs and markets. After all, there are lots of local and designer products, such as handicrafts, typical sweets, liqueurs, toys, clothes, jewelry and much more.
These are some of the Christmas markets you can visit and take the opportunity to buy some original gifts:
- Christmas Market, in Praça da Batalha;
- Christmas Market in Jardim da Cordoaria;
- Christmas Market at WOW, among many others.
Armazém dos Linhos
If you like to support tradition, then it’s always a good idea to visit the historic stores that are still in operation in the city of Porto. At Armazém dos Linhos, for example, you’ll find excellent Christmas gifts for your mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and more.
There, fabrics take center stage and you can buy backpacks, wallets, dolls and even kitchen products. Although the closure of number 15 Rua de Passos Manuel was in the news this year, according to Jornal de Notícias, there is news.
In other words, it seems that, as of January 2025, you’ll still be able to visit Armazém dos Linhos in a temporary space in the heart of Praça Filipa Lencastre.

Bazar Paris
Over a century old, Bazar Paris is one of Porto’s historic stores that you really must visit. This is one of the oldest toy stores in the city and still has the ability to make kids and adults dream.
Here you’ll find a wide range of traditional toys, such as dolls, educational games, trains, miniature cars, modeling items, LEGO and many others.
As well as its historic premises, Bazar Paris also has an online store, where you can take a closer look at the immensity of its products.

Louie Louie
Vinyl records and turntables are in fashion. That’s why we even have an exclusive guide dedicated to them. This time, we’re going to focus our attention on Louie Louie.
In operation since 2004, this store is already a must for all music lovers. So if you know someone who can’t do without a good record, this is an option to consider.
Vinyl records, CD’s/DVD’s or band merchandise, these are some of the things you’ll find at Louie Louie. What’s more, the offer ranges from the latest releases to older titles, and is also available online.

Claus Porto
With over 130 years of history, Claus Porto was (almost) an obvious choice for this list of original and/or different Christmas gifts.
Here, self-care and well-being are the focus of the products. For this, you can count on a wide range of colorful soaps, diffusers, perfumes, candles and creams, among other things.

Embassy of Porto
Located in the heart of Porto, Embaixada do Porto is a place of commerce, but also of leisure due to the bar that operates on the upper floor.
If you know someone who loves music, photography and a vintage touch, this store is a good place to try and find the perfect gift.
Here, you’ll find analog cameras and vinyl records. However, the Funko Pop section is also something to consider for those who enjoy collecting. The products are also available online.
Where: Praça de Carlos Alberto, 121
Traditional florists (and not only)
Giving flowers and/or indoor plants is a classic that never fails. What’s more, more and more florists are giving free rein to their imagination and preparing special offers.
In Porto you can find several options, for example at Mercado do Bolhão, or stores such as The Florist and Flores Joaquim Santos, among others.
Rosemary heart
In an article dedicated to original Christmas gifts, it makes perfect sense to include Coração Alecrim.
The space immediately stands out for its colorful and inviting tones. This store is especially suitable for those who appreciate local, sustainable and handmade products.
Clothing, homeware, jewelry, plants, beauty and wellness are some of the categories on offer in the store, which is also available online.
Where: Travessa de Cedofeita, 28
Porto de Magia
If Christmas is a magical time of dreams, then Porto de Magia is a place worth (re)visiting.
It’s a different kind of store, where you’ll feel like you’re traveling through time. After all, there are lots of ‘enchanting’ products here, such as:
- Music boxes;
- Christmas decorations;
- Mechanical fairground carousel sets;
- Magic snowballs;
- Kaleidoscopes;
- Disney, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Comics collections;
- Wall clocks and cuckoo clocks;
- Collector’s items, among many others.

Armazém da Alma
This is a concept store with a wide range of products, so here you can find original and creative gifts for friends and family.
Vinyl records, clothes, mugs and postcards, books, prints, tote bags, ceramics and other decorative items are just some of the possibilities.
A Christmas gift store suitable for those who like more vintage and conceptual things.
Where: Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, 98
Flâneur Bookshop
If you have a friend, family member or significant other who can’t live without reading, you can always take a look at our guide to Porto’s bookstores.
However, we’d like to take this opportunity to suggest Livraria Flâneur, one of our favorite literary spaces in the city, near Casa da Música.
This is a general bookshop, but also a publishing house. A place dedicated to lesser-known authors, but always with the ideal work for any bookworm.
Where: Rua de Fernandes Costa, 88
Rosa com Canela
The items are exclusively designed by the Porto brand, so there’s no shortage of creativity and originality here.
If you go into Rosa com Canela, you’ll find diaries, photo albums, notebooks, pens, bags, backpacks, postcards and much more.
What’s more, to give your gift a more personal touch, some products can be personalized.
