Primavera Sound Porto, ‘little brother’ of Primavera Sound Barcelona, was born in the city of Invicta in 2012. Since then, it has become one of the must-see festivals on the national and international scene . It has grown to such an extent that we can’t imagine the month of June without São João and, now, the musical event.
With a luxury line-up, the 2025 edition promises to surprise those who travel to Porto’s City Park from June 12 to 15. That’s why we’ve prepared a practical guide for those who don’t want to miss a thing about the festival. But there’s another question: what can you do between concerts at Primavera Sound Porto? Apart from the music, there are plenty of options.

Primavera Sound Porto: the ‘mecca’ for the next few days
Known for its eclectic nature, including big names in music and emerging talents, Primavera Sound Porto is more than a celebration for music lovers: it’s an experience that can be lived inside and outside the venue.
Set in Porto’s City Park, this is considered to be the only large European urban park with a seafront, ending directly by the Atlantic Ocean. So, between the green spaces and the seafront promenades, there’s plenty to do between concerts (even if it rains)!
1 – Relax in the City Park
To begin with, the venue couldn’t be more idyllic. After all, with 83 hectares, Porto’s City Park is full of nooks and crannies where you can relax in the shade, or even take shelter from the rain.
According to the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, there’s a chance that the sun won’t be shining much, at least for the first two days of Primavera Sound Porto, with some respite expected over the weekend.
Be that as it may, sunny or not, don’t forget to take a stroll through what is considered to be one of the most beautiful green spaces in the world. Even so, it’s best to put your umbrella and raincoat away.
2 – Stroll along Matosinhos Beach
If the weather conditions are favorable, don’t forget to take some time between concerts to stroll along the seafront. After all, just a five-minute walk from the venue is Matosinhos Beach.
There, you can feel the sea breeze sitting on a terrace, or even practise some water sports like surfing , or simply walk along the waterfront overlooking the Atlantic.
Nearby, you can take the opportunity to visit the Castelo do Queijo, one of Porto’s most beautiful monuments, located right on the sea.
3 – Eat a lot (and well)
Porto has already been voted Europe’s Best Emerging Gastronomic Destination – and we at Secret Porto couldn’t agree more. So if you’re visiting Invicta, take the opportunity to ‘devour’ some of its best delicacies.
Within the grounds of Primavera Sound Porto, you have several options. However, if you want to take advantage of the free time between concerts by your favorite artists, you can explore the surrounding area. For example, in the Edifício Transparente, right by the seafront , we recommend Cufra’s francesinhas.
If you can’t do without a delicious brunch, another place to consider around Porto City Park is Wilson Café Matosinhos. In Parque da Cidade, it’s worth visiting Soundwich, one of the best-known pet-friendly places in the city.
4 – Visit the Best Museum of the Year
If São Pedro does decide to play a trick with some showers, you can always choose to explore the cultural side of Porto.
One of the best places for this is undoubtedly the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art – recently voted Portugal’s Museum of the Year 2025.
5 – ‘Dive’ into SEA LIFE Porto
If you’re looking for another experience to shelter you from the rain, SEA LIFE Porto is a place to consider, especially due to its proximity to the Primavera Sound Porto venue.
There, you’ll have the chance to dive into a fascinating underwater world with sharks, rays, giant turtles and two baby penguins – the latest craze at the Porto aquarium.
Whether you’re relaxing in the park, strolling along the seafront or sampling the best of the local cuisine, there’s plenty to do between concerts during the days of Primavera Sound Porto. So don ‘t just enjoy the festival, enjoy the whole experience!
