July brings a packed schedule so you can enjoy summer in Porto and the surrounding area. From candlelit concerts to outdoor movie screenings and the best spots for a dip, there’s something for everyone.
If your vacation is only in August, then enjoy afternoons on the terrace and trips to rooftop bars to toast the hottest season. In Porto and the surrounding area, there’s excitement from start to finish.
Open House Porto
Open House Porto is already a classic on the summer events calendar. This year, the initiative marks its 11th edition on July 4 and 5, once again opening the doors of countless architecturally significant buildings to the public.
In total, the Open House Porto program covers 53 venues, 35 of which are making their debut on the itinerary, including locations in Porto, Maia, Matosinhos, and, for the first time, Gondomar.
Under the theme “Pentimenti,” inspired by the concept of overlapping layers in a painting, the 11th edition of Open House Porto challenges the public to discover buildings that have been given new life over time.
Among the countless venues to visit, highlights include, for example, Casa de Serralves, Alfândega do Porto, Multiusos de Gondomar, Casa Atelier Júlio Resende, and much more.
Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia have set up giant screens in various locations to show the 2026 World Cup matches. Invicta’s main Fan Zone is located in Praça de D. João I, while Avenida dos Aliados will feature an additional screen dedicated exclusively to the national team’s matches. In Gaia, Praça do Centro Cívico will broadcast more than 60 games in an open-air venue with capacity limits in place.
Indoors, the Bom Sucesso Market will host a total of 30 events scheduled to coincide with its operating hours and organize parallel activities. The Time Out Market will split the broadcasts across three screens—one in the outdoor plaza and two indoors—combining sports broadcasts with service from the market’s various restaurants.
The Candlelight Concerts will continue to shine at various iconic venues in the city of Porto and its surroundings, such as the Pestana Palácio do Freixo and the Hilton Porto Gaia.

Elétrico Festival
Pasteleira Urban Park will host another edition of the Elétrico Festival, from July 3 to 5. The program features a variety of outdoor performances and DJ sets in broad daylight.
The lineup features major international artists such as Honey Dijon, Ben UFO, Rob Trent, Acid Pauli, and LP Giobbi, as well as names from the local scene like Rui Vargas, Diana Oliveira, Tiago Carvalho, and Klin Klop.
In addition to the dance floor, the event features activities for the whole family. The venue will include a dedicated children’s area, panel discussions, conferences, and yoga sessions.
As in previous years, the Porto City Council is once again organizing guided nighttime walks to observe bats in the main urban parks. The initiative takes participants into the darkness to explore the species’ behavior and demonstrate how these animals can devour thousands of insects in a single night.
Participants will stroll under the moonlight and explore a different garden in each session. The program requires advance reservations to guarantee access to each tour, offering a direct and safe encounter with the wildlife that inhabits the city after dark.
The municipal company Ágora and RunPorto organize a five-kilometer walking circuit for those looking to exercise outdoors. Each route passes through different areas of the city, combining physical activity with a firsthand view of the urban heritage.
Physical education professionals lead all the morning sessions. The team has designed the routes to accommodate participants of all ages and ensured that the paths are fully accessible to people with limited mobility.
Historical reenactment “Os Piratas”
From July 9 to 12, all roads lead to Leça da Palmeira, one of the most beautiful coastal towns on the outskirts of Porto. Why? Well, because “Os Piratas” are back for another edition.
Organized by the Matosinhos City Council and produced by Cryseia, this event is now a regular fixture on the Greater Porto cultural calendar.
With free admission, you’ll find fun for kids and adults alike, including taverns and a craft fair, shows, music, theater, games, interactive workshops, and much more.
The Cénica Porto Hotel and MXM are promoting the return of Cabaret: New Xperience. The former Modestos Theater hosts an evening that blends dance, music, humor, and direct interaction with the audience.
Participants enjoyed a set three-course dinner, with standard and vegetarian options, accompanied by drinks before watching the performances. The show lasts approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and evokes the Belle Époque aesthetic in a nighttime setting.
Serralves in Luz
July’s events calendar brings us some exciting news: the return of Serralves em Luz, running from July 9 to November 8. Under the theme “Light vs. Darkness,” the 4th edition of the event explores the relationship between light and darkness along a brand-new, approximately 2-kilometer-long trail in Serralves Park.
In total, Serralves em Luz features more than 20 light-based art installations, whose immersive experience will be enriched by the inclusion of an original soundscape designed specifically for the tour.
The city of Porto organizes outdoor sports sessions to combat a sedentary lifestyle. The program transforms six of the city’s main gardens and green spaces into areas dedicated to yoga, Pilates, tai chi, and meditation.
Participants practice these sports right in nature every weekend during spring and summer. To secure a spot in the activities, those interested should register in advance on the city’s online sports platform.
Continente Food Festival
The Continente Food Festival is already a summer classic and returns to Porto’s City Park on July 12 and 13, with free admission and a lineup packed with concerts for all ages.
The event features performances by artists such as Tony Carreira, Anselmo Ralph, Sara Correia, and Rosinha. In addition to the music, the festival stands out for its culinary offerings from top chefs like Chakall, Diogo Rocha, Hélio Loureiro, Manuel Almeida, and Justa Nobre.
MEO Marés
Following the successful Primavera Sound Porto, another major summer festival is set to bring music to the Greater Porto area— MEO Marés, taking place July 17–19.
For the first time, the festival is “leaving” its usual location in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and moving lock, stock, and barrel to Praia do Aterro in Matosinhos.
nd major international acts like James, Seal, and Ozunawill be performing there, as well as top Portuguese artists such as Da Weasel, Diogo Piçarra, and Calema, among others.
The Porto City Council organizes several guided night tours through the historic cemeteries of Prado do Repouso and Agramonte. The tours reveal the history, 19th-century architecture, and details of the funerary art at these two cemeteries under the night sky, off the beaten path of the city’s usual tourist routes.
The sessions alternate between the two venues over the course of the months. The tour explores the cultural heritage, sculptures, and memories of Porto’s notable figures in a straightforward format focused on historical heritage.
Festival Panda, the largest children’s event held in Portugal, is back in Greater Porto. More specifically, on July 18 and 19, the Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho Municipal Stadium, in the municipality of Maia, will host a new edition of the festival.
This year, the initiative’s theme is inspired by the 30th-anniversary celebrations of Canal Panda and promises to bring together all the friends who were part of this story. With stunning sets and vibrant choreography, the show will bring back the greatest hits that defined different generations.
Porto Blues Fest
The Porto Blues Fest returns to the Concha Acústica in the Crystal Palace Gardenson July 25 and 26, featuring international and national blues artists.
The main highlight is the British band Ten Years After, a legendary blues band formed in 1966, as well as performances by Dede Priest & Johnny Clark’s Outlaws, the Italian group Cosimo & The Hot Coals, and the Portuguese band Peter Storm & The Blues Society.
The Atkinson Museum presents the “Egyptian Treasures” exhibition, an interactive tour featuring around one hundred historical replicas. Visitors walk through settings that recreate the Avenue of the Sphinxes and the Temple of Luxor, gaining direct access to elements of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The tour reveals Tutankhamun’s funerary treasures, rituals related to the afterlife, and the secrets of hieroglyphic writing through artifacts such as the Rosetta Stone. The venue also includes an interactive exploration area designed specifically for children.
